Mr. David Jones has been a Social Studies teacher at Northmont High School since 2013. Currently, Mr. Jones teaches all junior and senior AP Social Studies courses, including AP Government and Politics, AP Human Geography, AP Economics, and AP Psychology.
Mr. Jones is a 1997 graduate of Northmont High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Urban Affairs from Wright State University in 2001 and his Master of Public Administration degree from Wright State in 2003. He obtained his Education licensure from the University of Dayton in 2011. A Thunderbolt from the start, Mr. Jones was active in Academic Challenge, marching band, tennis and yearbook while a student at Northmont.
Mr. Jones is also the coach of our nationally recognized Academic Challenge team. Mr. Jones began coaching the team in 2005, and since then has won 7 state championships and 2 national championships. Two of Mr. Jones's students have appeared on Jeopardy (though sadly he has never made it!) and four of his students have been selected to the All-Ohio team. Any student interested in joining Academic Challenge can see Mr. Jones in Room 3108 or email him at djones@northmontschools.net.
Mr. Jones is also the coach of the Northmont Mock Trial team. In his previous three seasons as coach, the team has advanced on to district competition, with eight students (out of twelve) winning Best Lawyer or Best Witness awards.
