Hello Englewood Hills families, welcome to the EH website. The entire staff would like to welcome you and your student to our building and hope that you have a fantastic year!
Englewood Hills is a Grade 2-6 building with approximately 250 students. We take pride in the positive and welcoming learning environment that has been created by our dedicated and enthusiastic staff. We are proud to be the first of several Caring School Communities in the Dayton Area. We have adopted a program that centers around students' social and emotional well-being. Each day we spend time working with students on social and emotional skills which are essential to their lives. We take pride in teaching our students the six pillars of character: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, citizenship, fairness, and caring. Students repeat our pledge daily as a reminder that our goal is to become quality citizens in the Northmont community.
I am an awesome citizen of EH.
I am trustworthy, respectful, responsible and fair
and I care for myself and those around me.
In addition, students are challenged daily to perform their best academically. It is crucial in the elementary years to develop a strong foundation in the core subjects as well as interpersonal skills such as problem solving, team building and effective communication. Daily learning experiences foster these skills, which in return develop lifelong learners.
Here is a little background information about me: I have lived in the Beavercreek area for most of my life and continue to enjoy a life with close family and friends. I graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1997 and went on to Wright State University where I completed my Elementary Education degree in 2000. I started teaching sixth grade health education at Greeneview Intermediate School and later taught sixth grade science. During this time, I realized I wanted to be a principal and started my masters degree in Educational Administration at the University of Dayton where I graduated in 2003. Shortly after I married, I was offered a job at Wright Patterson Air Force Base teaching at a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) school called STARBASE. I loved everything about the five years I was there, offering hands-on learning experiences for my students. During that time, I completed my Principal License at the University of Dayton and had two sons (Kael and Lincoln.) In 2009, I accepted the Assistant Principal position at Milton-Union Elementary where I also taught 2nd grade in the mornings. This position later transitioned to Interim Principal for one year.
Some of my closest friends have grown up in the Northmont community and are proud teachers in the district. They encouraged me to apply for the Northmont Middle School Assistant Principal position when it opened and I was thrilled to join Bolt Country in 2012. During this time I also seemed to find time to have our third son (Korben- aka “the little comedian.”) In 2014, I was honored to accept the position as Englewood Hills Elementary Principal.
I am proud to call the staff and students at Englewood Hills Elementary my family. They make every day incredibly special and the staff and I continue to work to create the best learning environment imaginable for our students. We feel that the biggest part of student success is clear communication and teamwork between family and home. Know that you are welcome to contact me with your ideas or concerns. By working together we can do the unimaginable!
